Macmillan, Pate on Record Breaking Form

The penultimate day of the British Gas Swimming Grand Prix provided more records for the Scottish swimmers competing in Leeds.

Louise Pate continued her excellent form breaking her second Scottish Record in as many nights in the final of the women's 100m butterfly event. The Edinburgh University student took the bronze medal in 58.31, a full second faster than the previous Scottish Record set by Hannah Miley back in March.

Pate was beaten into third by Audrey Lacroix (56.74) and Kendra Chernoff (57.56) of Canada.  Lucy Ellis (Stirling Swim/Stirling ITC) finished 8th in the final, a new Scottish Junior Record.

Pate's Edinburgh University team-mate, Iain Macmillan, was also in record breaking form in the men's 200m butterfly final.  Macmillan took the bronze medal in 1:55.70, almost a second faster that the previous record set by Todd Cooper back in 2007.

Louise Henley chosen for World's in Rome

The British Gas Swimming Team destined for the World Championships in Rome are finalising preparations at a holding camp in Sardinia.

Edinburgh University's Louise Henley replaces Loughborough ITC and University swimmer Kate Haywood in the 100m Breaststroke who has been forced to withdraw from the World Championship squad due to a hip injury. Haywood will also be relpaced by be replaced by Georgia Holderness in the 50m Breaststroke

Henley joins fellow Edinburgh University swimmer Kris Gilchrest along with 39 other swimmers to represent Great Britian in Rome from the 26th July.
